Implementing a Stockroom
A stockroom is a small area holding stock and inventory for dispatch to other stores or transferring to the shelves within the store. It can be similar to a warehouse, but warehouses are much larger and have different requirements.

Suggested Devices
Computer or Tablet?
To a large extent the choice between computer or tablet is driven by what other tasks need to be performed and how much data entry needs to be performed. Tablets and mobile devices are great for mobility, but classic desktops and laptops are often easier for typing.
For Fieldpine, a Windows based computer (desktop, laptop or surface) provides the greatest amount of functionality as you can run PosGreen, a highly featured windows application, as well as web browser based tools.
Barcode Scanners
Within a stockroom a wireless barcode scanner usually has range to allow the scanner to be distant from the computer and still operate. A room that is less than 10m distance is typically fine - longer distances often work fine too. If wireless scanners are practical, then you can have the operator only carry a barcode scanner. Some of the Fieldpine functions are speech enabled and allow the operator to scan while at the shelf and hear the computer confirm.
Possible scanners are
- Zebra CS3070 - Small and sleak. Works well for 1D barcode.
- Zebra DS4308 - Handheld gun type scanner. For 1D barcodes. Handheld gun scanners can be easier for high volume scanning
